Memorandum of Understanding with CATL and SunVillage to collaborate
in the Development of the 2.4 GWh Grid-Scale Battery Storage Projects in Japan

Marubeni Power Retail Corporation (headquartered in Tokyo, Japan; hereinafter “MPR”), a consolidated subsidiary of Marubeni Corporation, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (headquartered in Ningde, Fujian Province, China; hereinafter “CATL”), a global leader in lithium-ion batteries and energy storage solutions, and SunVillage Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Tochigi, Japan; hereinafter “SV”), a capital alliance partner of MPR, have agreed to jointly develop grid-scale battery storage projects in Japan with a total capacity of 2.4 GWh.

Under this collaboration, SV will be responsible for project development and construction of the storage facilities; CATL will supply battery products for the facilities and partially own the projects; and MPR will manage the operation of the facilities. By combining the strengths of all three companies and aiming for early commercialization and scale-up, the partners will contribute to both stable power supply and decarbonization in Japan.
